Just wrong in so many ways

The story in the news this week about a school in the UK that sanctioned a pupil for turning up to an event celebrating different cultures in a union flag dress and wanting to talk about British culture has pissed me off on so many levels.

First of all we should all be taught to be proud of our own culture and our own history and values. So the girl did NOTHING wrong in wanting to celebrate that. Reading the speech she was going to deliver she talked about openness and acceptance, not about right wing extremism or exclusion. The action of the school sanctioning her is beyond shameful and the leaders/mangers of the school need to be replaced immediately for holding what are quite frankly racist views.

Secondly, the actions the school took only fuels and empowers right wing knuckle dragging morons to come out of the sewers and push their racist views even more sighting how “Britishness” has yet again been suppressed/dismissed/shamed in fear of offending foreigners who are probably not offended in the first place.

This is bourn out now by reports that the school had to be shut down because these right wing knuckle dragging morons decided to turn up at the school and start protesting and threatening violence. Again the school leaders/manages should face some degree of action to make them realise how wrong their action have been.

I guess this is a classic example of idiot using political correctness to enforce idealisms that never needed enforcing in the first place and making everything thousands of times worst in doing so.
