We absolutely must do things like this

There is an amazing story on the BBC News web site this morning titled:

“Babies made using three people's DNA are born free of hereditary disease”

Scientist in the UK have developed a technique to address mitochondrial disease, which is a dreadful and life ending and life changing genetic condition passed down family lines.

Parents with this genetic condition can now potentially have children free from the condition not just in the next generation, but in every generation that follows. HOW AMAZING IS THAT?

The only sad thing for me is there will be people up in arms saying we shouldn’t be playing with genetics or “play god”.

Well if we know how to fix such a dreadful condition and do it safely then surly we have a moral and humanitarian obligation to carry out the treatment to whoever needs it and we also have moral and humanitarian obligation to go on and do more work like this to make life better for everyone.
