First they came. . . . .

My very dear friend Helen reminded me of this wonderful historic passage by Pastor Martin Niemöller. I first came across this on the wall of a police station I was attended to give a talk to new trainee officers about the importance of being open to understanding other people.

When I read it I instantly knew it would be important to me throughout the the rest of my life and it has been.

But reading it this morning I have realised that perhaps today for many vulnerable individuals and minority groups it is sadly more relevant now, than it has been for many years and that worries me.
