Benefit cuts, right or wrong?

I find this debate very interesting to keep an eye on. I’ve previously said that in principal I agree and understand the need to cut back and reduce the numbers of people who can claim Personal Independence Payment (PIP) because as with so many benefits it has been abused. So many people who really don’t need PIP are claiming it to bolster their income and this is to the disadvantage of genuinely disabled people.

However, I also think that the bill going through parliament is quite hard handed and has a VERY high risk of hurting those people who do genuinely need PIP to simply live.

So I’m happy that MPs from the Labour Party are actually standing up against this bill and forcing the PM and the Chancellor to have a major rethink on how this is going to be done. Hopefully, it will still limit those who really don’t meet the requirements for PIP but protects those genuine claimants.

As to who doesn’t and who dies meet those standards is an almost impossible task and and not one I would like to take on myself.
