A quick look at the 2025 CQ DX world wide radio contest
Over the past weekend (25th and 26th October) the 2025 CQ DX world wide HF Radio Contest took place. It ran for 48 hours and was open to operators all over the world. Now, I don’t compete in these competitions in so far as I don’t submit my logs or anything like that. But I do very much enjoy contacting competitors and adding the contacts to my logbook and at the same time adding to their points tally.
The thing I enjoy most about this particular contest is just the shear number of people shouting out for contacts on ALL the available bands. It’s absolutely fantastic and makes for a brilliant weekend. One of the other things I love about the contest is looking up the contacts on QRZ.com and seeing some of the MASSIVE antenna farms that the high end competition teams are using. They must cost many thousands of pound/euros/dollars but they must be amazing to use. If your not sure what an “antenna farm” looks like just follow this link to a polish competition team and look at their antennas.
