Not a life style choice

I find it very sad and upsetting to see the growing increase in haltered towards the trans community in particular and in general towards any vulnerable minority group in todays society.

There seems to be a patten of though that says members of any vulnerable minorities chose to be like this like we are as if it’s a life style choice!

While I can not speak for everyone out there I can speak for myself and categorically say that being transgendered is and never was a “choice”. I didn’t sit there one day and think to myself “I bet being a part of a vulnerable minority group will be fun, I’ll become transgendered”. I also know that I didn’t think to myself that I would become transgendered to gain access to women’s toilets and changing rooms. On that point alone I have to say what a ridicules claim to make.

I am transgendered because that is what nature made me. Just like nature made people straight, gay, lesbian or any one of the millions of variations that nature imparts on us.

I don’t know why the haters like to maintain this claim of choice on our part. Maybe because they feel it gives them some moral high ground to base their hate on. Maybe they think they are upholding some righteousness written in historic texts or maybe it’s because they are so frightened to think it could happen to them or their loved ones.

Whatever the reason, it fills me with fear for what will happen in the near future for all of societies minorities.
