Maybe Israel should be setting an example of peace to the rest of the world

Given the history of persecution that the Jewish people have suffered throughout history and particularly at the hands of Nazis in the 2nd World War, I can not help but feel that Israel should be champions of peace and understanding in our world.

But everyday I turn on the news and I see ever escalating levels of atrocities and human rights violations being carried out by Israel and the IDF in ways that to me suggests that they are absolutely out of control and intent on annihilating the civilian population in Gaza in order to reach members of Hamas. They don’t care how many innocent people they kill to reach their target. Is this not the same sort of thing the Nazis did in the 2nd World War to the Jews of Europe?

What Hamas did on October 7th 2023 was completely wrong on every level and Israel has every right to defend itself from such actions in a controlled way, to retaliate in equal and controlled proportion. I will even go as far as saying I support the opinion that Hamas is a terrorist organisation and should be treated as such by all nations of the world.

But I also feel that Israel is carrying out it’s own version of the Holocaust and ethnic cleansing which makes Israel as bad as the Nazis.

I think that slowly, the world (apart from it seems America) is waking up to what Israel is doing and voicing it’s concerns. The UN is starting to condemn Israel and even accuse them of committing war crimes against the civilians of Gaza.

I wonder where this “war” will go, how it will develop and what will happen in the coming months and years.

Only time will tell but I suspect it will not end well for everyone.
